12 competitors took to the water at our third summer TT of 2021 at Draycote Water.  There was a lower than usual turnout from the local fleet with only 3 home boats, but we welcomed 9 visitors, all of us sailing Una rig.  As the forecast had predicted, we had very light and fluctuating winds of around 5 knots which created some challenges for our Race Officer, Tim Case and his assistant Nicky Wilcox, who had kindly stood in at very short notice.  They managed to keep their cool and set us a trapezodial course and we were soon racing.

The 2020 AGM will be held via Teams on the 18th November.  Details will be sent out to members via email.

Unfortunately, the Winter TT event at Stone, scheduled for Sat 28th November 2020, has been postponed due to Coronavirus.

40 Sprint 15 sailors made a very welcome return to WPNSA in Weymouth for our 2021 National Championships – a nine race, three day event from Saturday 26th to Monday 28th June.

As the storm clouds gathered over the Derbyshire countryside an intrepid bunch of dedicated TT racers assembled on the shores of Carsington for the penultimate event of the summer series.

Sean was not troubled for the rest of the race by his co-competitors despite heading towards the council’s 200m 10 knot markers rather than the six foot yellow “minions” he should have been going round.  He did also poke himself in the eye with the golf stick he had taped to his tiller extension so he spent the rest of the regatta sporting an impressive black eye...

The Sprint 15 fleet were delighted to be returning to Stewartby for the start of the 2021/22 Winter Series, having not been able to sail last winter.  The forecast of fine weather, warm temperatures and a 9 mph westerly boded well for a good event.

Sunday 12th December saw the second Sprint 15 Winter 2021/22 TT take place at Rutland.    Rutland Winter TTs have been legendary for bitingly cold temperatures and icebergs floating in the lake.  So it was a very pleasant surprise to arrive to mild winter temperatures, a bit of sun, a decent south westerly breeze and mercifully without the northerly force 6 – 7s that have aborted sailing for a number of us in recent weekends.
